Chancellor Ali unveils newly rehabilitated toilets in University dormitories

The turn-over ceremony of the newly renovated comfort rooms of the Mindanao State University, General Santos dormitories on 4 September 2020 signified the attainment of a dream of the University to provide better services to its students.
Chancellor of the University Dr. Anshari P. Ali, together with Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mishell D. Lawas, Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension, Dr. Edna P. Oconer, officer-in-charge of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Ms. Sheila J. Loable, Director of the Office of the Students Affair, Engr. Paisar Gadiaware and Manager of Dormitories Ms. Cheryl Dindang led the turn-over ceremony.
The turn-over ceremony which started at 09:30 in the morning began with ribbon cutting and photo opportunity for University officials, faculty and staff. Soon after, the Chancellor expressed his delight about the completed renovation of toilets and shower rooms in all dormitories.
“This project is meaningful and truly relevant to the need for convenience and comfort of our university students, particularly those residing in dormitories. This is the first time to have the renovation of the comfort rooms of dormitories since 1981 as I have stayed here in boys’ dormitory in 1994. In other words, that was almost 40 years ago and that is the reason why I have given priority for the renovation of the dormitory comfort room. This is a manifestation that our administration is very much concern of the needs of the students,” Chancellor Ali said.
The chancellor also reminded everyone in attendance in the event to maintain cleanliness, especially during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Do your part in maintaining cleanliness. We need to strengthen our program on cleanliness because that is in line with our fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. We need to cooperate with one another in maintaining cleanliness and follow the protocol and guidelines on COVID-19 prescribed by the IATF and Local Government for protection and safety. Above all we need to ask protection from God to save us from this pandemic,” the Chancellor added.
Director of the Students Affair, Engr. Paisar Gadiaware expressed his gratitude to the Chancellor for making the renovation of the dormitory comfort rooms as one of the priority projects of his administration. Engr. Gadiaware believes that having clean comfort rooms is a determinant of one’s personality.
Meanwhile, the manager of the university dormitories assured the administration to discipline the dormers in order to preserve the quality and cleanliness not just of the dormitory comfort rooms, but also the entire dormitory environment so that students of the next generation will also enjoy these facilities and amenities that the university.
This renovation project of the dormitory comfort rooms has an approved budget of 4.7 million pesos. The Chancellor announced that the renovation of comfort rooms is just the beginning because the renovation of the four dormitories is now in the pipeline.
