Mindanao State University – General Santos subjected nine of its programs to Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) Level II and III online accreditation survey visit last April 10-14, 2023.
For Level II accreditation, the programs subjected to survey visit were BS in Accountancy and Master in Public Administration. On the other hand, BS in Information Technology, BS in Biology, BS in Mathematics, Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Elementary Education, BA in Filipino, and PhD in Educational Management were surveyed for Level III accreditation.
The programs were evaluated under ten areas namely: VMGO, Faculty, Curriculum & Instruction, Support to Students, Research, Extension & Community Involvement, Library, Physical Plant & Facilities, Laboratories, and Administration. Focal persons coming from their respective programs were tasked to consolidate necessary documentary requirements and deliver outputs of their assigned areas for the inspection of the accreditors. These documents were a product of the collaborative efforts of the administration, faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders of the programs. The accreditation preparations were supervised by the Quality Assurance and Management Services Office (QuAMSO) of the University.
Before the online survey visit, accreditors had a preliminary evaluation of the documents submitted by the programs. Thereafter, the opening program was conducted last April 11, 2023 at the Conference Room, Administration Building. The program featured the giving of the Statement of Purpose and introduction of the AACCUP Survey team led respectively by Dr. Erlinda J. Porcincula of Camarines Norte State College, Overall Coordinator of the Level II Survey Team and Dr. Cecilio L. Manarpaac of Palawan State University, Overall Coordinator of Level III Survey Team. University officials, deans, and accreditation teams composed of faculty members of the programs were in attendance. The program served to commence the week-long survey visit of the accreditors.
In the succeeding days, the programs underwent a comprehensive evaluation which included virtual tours of facilities and laboratories and interviews with administrators, faculty, students, alumni, research and extension partners, and other stakeholders. Classroom observations were also done to supplement documentary evaluations and interviews.
In an exit conference last April 14, 2022, the accreditors delivered their findings of the programs evaluated. The conference was highlighted by the giving of the general impression of the AACCUP Survey Team to which the college deans have responded. They also manifested commitment to continuously improving compliance to standards of the areas evaluated and the performance of their programs in general. The online accreditation survey visit yielded generally positive results with a few points for improvement by the programs. They will submit reports of compliance to address some of the findings of the accreditors. The exit conference also included the pledge of commitment of Chancellor, JD Usman D. Aragasi, MPA, a message from the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mishell D. Lawas, PECE, and remarks from QuAMSO Director, Prof. Ronald P. Sombero. Showing their full support, Vice Chancellor Research and Extension, Dr. Jaime A Namocatcat and Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, Prof. Sheila J. Loable led the awarding of certificates.
The week-long online accreditation survey visit has proven to be a learning experience for the University as it holds its programs to the highest standards. As it moves forward to the next accreditation activities of programs scheduled for survey visits, the University continues to uphold excellence in the academe and committed service to all its stakeholders.
