There are a number of cultural works/ activities this office has been undertaking regularly:

  • Take charge of the development/training and coordination of performing art groups of the university (MSU Kabpapagariya Ensemble , MSU Chorale , ARYA Band and Pinta Okir (Visual Arts group)
  • These performing groups are medium of Cultural Convergence of the different cultures/ tribes in Mindanao and showcase the various cultures and traditions though productions, performances and visual arts.
  • Visual Arts (organize skills workshops and exhibits )
  • Dance (performances, workshops, lectures, demonstrations, festivals)
  • Theater (workshops/skillshare, mount productions)
  • Chorale (trainings, store productions, competitions)
  • Cultural and the Arts Foras, lectures, festivals.
  • Extension work (Summer Children’s workshops, trainings, assist organize activities in various organizations and communities that needs assistance that are related to cultural work of the university as mandated)
  • Initiate/organize art festivals
  • Host exchange art programs with various art institution/organizations
Kabpapagariya Ensemble or popularly known as KE, is the official performing art arm of the Mindanao State University – General Santos City. For its resident members, special privileges are given by the University.

Indigenous Peoples are highly encouraged to audition and be part of the ensemble. As a group, KE mainly aims to preserve Mindanawon culture and foster cultural sensitivity and awareness among MSUans and the community around it through plays, original songs and cultural dances.

Senior members are offered with a monthly stipend of One Thousand Pesos and free accommodation to the University dormitory. Junior members are also given a monthly stipend of Five Hundred Pesos and free accommodation to University dormitory. Finally, Apprentice members are eligible for a free dormitory accommodation.

What are you passionate about? Singing, dancing, acting, playing instruments or chanting? Show off your talent and audition at the MSU Kabpapagariya Ensemble! Surely, when you entered with a shy demeanor, you will graduate as total performer with oozing confidence.

How are you going to apply? Here are the steps:

a.) Fill – up an audition form. Forms are available at the KE Office, located at the University Gymnasium;

b.) Ask for your audition schedule and prepare yourself;

c.) During your schedule, give your best and do not hold back; and

d.) Wait for the result. After an evaluation, you will be told if you are eligible for the  series of screening process and if you do, you are now called an “APPLICANT”.

Have you imagined singing as if you are high – above the clouds, the Angels of heaven blew their trumpets and flute while doing a melody, and the stars started to glisten even if the sun is still awake?

Stop the imagination! Be part of the MSU Chorale! Contribute in making music and know where your voice fits. Are you a base, alto, tenor, soprano or a baritone? Know where your voice belong. You may not reach the high – notes but you can absolutely contribute in making a wonderful sound!

How to audition? Here are the steps:

a.) Get an audition form at the Chorale office. It is situated at the University Gymnasium, just beside the KE office;

b.) Submit your form at the Chorale conductor or the audition master. Ask for your  schedule;

c.) During your scheduled audition, give your best and do not hesitate. Let your voice be heard; and

d.) Know your status after the audition. If you passed, attend the screening process every afternoon after class and you are now called an “APPLICANT”.

Chorale members with the Senior status are rightful to receive a monthly stipend of One Thousand Pesos and a free accommodation to the University dormitory. Junior members on the other hand, receives a monthly stipend of Five Hundred Pesos and free accommodation to the dormitory. Those with the Apprentice status are afforded with a free dormitory accommodation.

What would you do after your class? Are you that type of person whose passion is into music? Do you play drums, guitar, piano and other musical instruments? Do you sing? Or else, are you a songwriter?

Do not miss your opportunity to show off your talent, or discover that that you can do something you have not known for years. It is your time to shine!

Audition in the newly formed band group of MSU, the ARYA and be a contributing member who would help in spreading positivity through music. Arya focuses on pure music of any genre and its members are encouraged to compose songs.

What are the process of audition? Here are the easy steps for that:

a.) Get an audition form and sign them up;

b.) Wait for your audition schedule and a text message will be sent to you for that;

c.) During your scheduled audition day, bring your instruments or prepare your  song. If you do not have any instrument, the Arya will provide you with it. Note that, there is no time for messing up. Let your light shine!; and

d.) Wait for the results. It will be posted online and will be sent through text messages.

Now, what are the rewards of being an Arya member?
