The Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) under Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 12 (CHEDRO 12) conducted its Initial Assessment of Mindanao State Universrity – General Santos City College of Medicine (COM) on May 25, 2021 at MSU-CETD Campus and MSU Fatima Campus. The initial assessment aims to ensure that MSU-GSC’s College of Medicine meets the minimum requirement prescribed by CHED’s Policies, Standards, and Guidelines (PSGs).
The program commenced with the Dean of COM Dr. Edwin A. Alconel’s opening remarks. After having been through extensive planning and preparation, Dr. Alconel puts high confidence that the initiative will have positive feedback from the team of evaluators. Dr. Alconel also presented a video presentation showcasing the programs, faculties, facilities, and laboratory equipment of the College.
Following the presentation of CHED Guidelines for Conduct of Assessment and evaluation of documents, the RQAT led by the Lead Auditor Bonifacio E. Valdez M.D, Ph.D. together with Ms. Annabelle R. Dafielmoto, Education Supervisor II, conducted an ocular inspection of the COM’s building, library, laboratories, equipment, and facilities. After the ocular inspection, RQAT was set to conduct an exit conference.
Chancellor Dr. Anshari P. Ali, in his message, looks forward to the success of the establishment of COM with objectives of addressing the challenges of the public health sector and helping improve the living conditions of its serviced communities. On the other hand, Dr. Mishell D. Lawas, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, expressed her sincere gratitude to the RQAT in ensuring that COM meets the standards required of it. The same was extended to the COM faculty and staff along with the Focal Team and Oversight Committee for all their exerted efforts leading to the evaluation of the College.
COM is poised to open this coming academic year given it passes the series of assessments of the RQAT with which the administration has full confidence.
