Never beating the “MSUans are the most fun!”, students from all the colleges kicked off the academic year in an Opening Salvo last August 14, 2023.
Led by the Office of Student Affairs and Services in partnership with other University offices, the Supreme Student Council, and various academic and socio-civic organizations, the MSU-GenSan Opening Salvo 2023 welcomed all excited MSUans as they commence a new chapter in their college journey.
The day started with the Libreng Sakayan that shuttled MSUans from the CETD terminal to the Fatima Campus. This was made possible through the partnership of Dadiangas-Labangal Transport Operator Drivers’ Cooperatative (DALATODCO) and our very own MSU Riders.
Arriving at the campus, the students were then greeted by their respective College Opening Salvos. The colleges prepared a series of fun activities that hyped up the MSUans on their first day of classes. After this, the “Panag-Abot: The University Welcome Jam” gathered all MSUans in the University Gymnasium for a proper first-day-of-class party featuring live performances of the Kabpapagariya Ensemble, Arya Band, and other talented MSUan acts.
Simultaneous with the morning activities and highlighted the afternoon events, the “Kesegemung: The Golden Jubilee Organization Fair” saw various non-academic organizations in their respective booths drawing the participation of MSUans in their fun-filled and engaging activities. These organizations aimed to convince new members to join their causes. Such causes help in the holistic development of every MSUan who exemplifies excellence and servitude in their midst.
The Opening Salvo activities concluded the day leaving a positive impression on the studentry. These activities have livened up the MSUans evermore ready for the start of the academic year. As the University has also welcomed its freshmen, the Opening Salvo aimed to acquaint them and help build a sense of community as they begin their college life on the campus.
