With a deep conviction to provide quality service through education, the Mindanao State University – General Santos (MSU-Gensan) conducted a virtual benchmarking activity at Bukidnon State University (BukSU) via Zoom Video Conferencing on February 24, 2021. The virtual benchmarking is one of the strategic measures taken by the University as it gears towards the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. Level III Online Accreditation Survey Visit.
The virtual event began with MSU-Gensan Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mishell D. Lawas, greeting the guests from BukSU in her opening remarks. Dr. Lawas expressed her firm support in the University as it embarks on this unique venture of online accreditation. She also encouraged the participants to move forward and onward with quality assurance to continue the University’s journey towards excellence under the leadership of Chancellor Anshari P. Ali.
In her message, Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, the Vice President for Academic Affairs of BukSU, commended the MSU-Gensan for staying agile and resilient despite the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Dr. Abejuela, quality assurance has become even more of a complex process that entails greater accountability following the paradigm shift of the AACCUP to online platforms. Vice President Abejuela also stated that BukSU is honored to be benchmarked by MSU-Gensan.
Ms. Psyche T. Malabo, AACCUP Coordinator of BukSU, exhibited one of their video presentations for Level III – Phase 2 Accreditation. Unlike the previous survey visits, which are purely document-based, video presentations are the most vital part of AACCUP Level III Online Accreditation.
During the open forum, some MSU-Gensan faculty members stirred up a highly interactive consultation with the Quality Assurance (QA) Board of BukSU, headed by their QA Director, Dr. Maribel G. Valdez. Dr. Valdez also shared some key strategies and tips on preparing for AACCUP Level III Online Accreditation Survey Visit.
Dr. Josh Elisha R. Octura, the OIC – Director of Quality Assurance Management Services Office, extended his sincerest gratitude to BukSU officials for accommodating the University in this virtual benchmarking activity. “When there is unity, there is quality.”, he stated in his closing remarks. Dr. Octura inspired the participants to pursue quality in the services being offered to the students.
