Mindanao State University – General Santos and Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement last March 13, 2023, at the Y Building Conference Hall. The signing was tailored to help improve the educational training of cooperatives in Region XII through a partnership with the academe.
Primarily, the role of the University is to provide Training of Trainers (ToT) for Cooperative Training Providers (CTPRO) and develop a standard course outline for the training, together with CDA. With this, CTPRO trainers will undergo at least twenty-four hours of training from the University, per the new guidelines set by the CDA for CTPRO accreditation and monitoring.
The overview of the partnership was delivered by the Supervising CDS of CDA Region XII, Ard. Juriski B. Mangalen, with additional inputs for the curriculum outline from Engr. Doreen C. Ancheta, CDA Regional Director 12. Delegates from MSU-Gensan, on the other hand, were led by the Chancellor, JD Usman D. Aragasi, MPA together with OIC-Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Nurleila G. Canacan, MPA, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mishell D. Lawas, Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, Prof. Shiela J. Loable, CSSH Dean, Dr. Carmela G. Ong, MSU-GSC Multi-Purpose Cooperative Chairperson, Engr. Felipe T. Galia, Campus Secretary, Prof. Norman Ralph Isla, and other staff of the University.
This collaboration recognizes the vital role of the University in the promotion, advocacy, and development of cooperatives in the education system. Engr. Ancheta added that the MOA signing is “a dream come true” for CDA.
