As provided under BOR Res No. 60, series of 1981, the MSU—GSC Alumni Relations was created in October 2007. The office was mandated to foster closer collaboration with the alumni of the University by establishing regular communication linkage and updates, as well as projects that will advance the best interests of the University and the alumni.

More specifically, it shall have the following mandates:

1. Facilitate the organization of the university alumni and assist in the development of programs/activities of the alumni association. 
2. Initiate programs, plans, and activities for the benefit of the alumni and would-be alumni. 
3. Maintain a database of alumni and undertake regular communication with all alumni; 
4. Integrate and mobilize the alumni support, wherever feasible, in the various initiatives of the university, be it in instruction, research, and  extension; 
5. Develop a continuing education program for the alumni 
6. Establish governmental and industry relations with the university through the help of the alumni; 
7. Develop a program that recognizes the contributions of the alumni in the community and in the pursuit of the ideals of the university; and 
8. Perform such other functions deemed necessary for the efficient and effective operation of the office.
