MSU-GenSan promotes research and extension activities focused on preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Muslims and Indigenous Peoples in the region, documenting traditional knowledge, promoting cultural tourism, and supporting community-based initiatives to safeguard cultural practices and traditions.

MSU-GenSan plays a key role in providing training and capacity-building programs to develop competent human resources in Southern Mindanao, offering relevant specialized courses and workshops tailored to the needs of local industries, government agencies, and community organizations.

MSU-GenSan facilitates transfer of technology from research laboratories to local industries and communities, establishing incubation centers, business development services, and technology parks to support entrepreneurship and innovation in the region.

MSU-GenSan prioritizes REI activities aimed at improving healthcare access and promoting well-being among underserved populations, including Muslims and Indigenous Peoples, conducting studies on prevalent health issues, developing community health programs, and training healthcare professionals.

MSU-GenSan engages in research and extension initiatives focused on environmental conservation, biodiversity protection, and climate change adaptation, studying local ecosystems, implementing conservation strategies, and raising awareness about environmental issues among local communities.

MSU-GenSan promotes research and innovation in information and communication technology (ICT) to address socio-economic challenges and enhance connectivity in the region, developing digital solutions for agriculture, education, healthcare, and governance, as well as promoting digital literacy among marginalized communities.

MSU-GenSan recognizes the importance of engaging students and alumni in fostering the culture of service, innovation, and lifelong learning, empowering current its students and graduates to become active contributors to sustainable development in Southern Mindanao and beyond.

MSU-GenSan, as a Peace university, through its dedication to research, extension, and innovation, aims to address the root causes of conflict, foster dialogue, and understanding among divers communities, and contribute to the creation of a more peaceful and harmonious society.
