Commitment to SDG 14: Life Below Water
Mindanao State University – General Santos (MSU GenSan) proudly supports Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water. We recognize the vital importance of conserving and sustainably using the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development.
As a university in a coastal city, MSU GenSan is dedicated to advancing marine conservation through education, research, and community engagement. Our academic programs emphasize sustainable fisheries, marine biodiversity, and environmental management to equip students with the skills to protect marine ecosystems.
We partner with local government units, fisherfolk communities, NGOs, and industry stakeholders to promote responsible fishing practices, marine protected areas, and coastal resource management. Our extension projects focus on raising awareness about ocean pollution, habitat restoration, and climate change impacts on marine life.
Through collaborative research, community-based action, and policy advocacy, MSU GenSan reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding marine resources for present and future generations.
