MSU-GenSan Kicks Off National Women’s Month 2026

Mindanao State University – General Santos officially marked the beginning of National Women’s Month 2026 during the flag ceremony on March 2, 2026, led by the OVCAA Domain and the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences.
In his message, Chancellor Shidik T. Abantas, MDM, LLM, underscored the significance of March as a time dedicated to honoring women and their vital role in society. “We are excited to begin this month as we recognize the capabilities of women and their invaluable impact on our society,” he stated.
He also highlighted the University’s ongoing collaboration with private partners to strengthen campus development initiatives. He shared updates on key infrastructure projects, including the upcoming turnover of the Junior High School building and procurement plans for an additional academic facility. He further reported the progress of repairs and enhancements across various colleges and units, such as the 80–90% completion of ceiling repairs at CIFAS and the completed waterproofing of the College of Agriculture’s Tanghal building.
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Mishell D. Lawas provided academic updates, noting that commencement exercises are fast approaching, with preparatory meetings to be scheduled soon. She reaffirmed the University’s commitment to continuously fostering excellence within the academic domain.
Through this celebration, MSU-Gensan not only honors the strength and resilience of women but also reinforces its commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities. Each year, the University proudly joins the nation in recognizing the vital role of women in shaping society and advancing progress.
