MSU-General Santos, Philippine Ulama Congress Organization, Inc. sign MOA for strengthened research and halal industry collaboration

Mindanao State University–General Santos formalized its partnership with the Philippine Ulama Congress Organization, Inc. through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing held on April 13, 2026, strengthening collaboration in research, extension services, and halal industry development.

In her welcome message, Dr. Christine Dawn G. Obemio , Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension and Innovation , emphasized the importance of partnerships in advancing inclusive development and innovation within the region.
University Chancellor Atty. Shidik T. Abantas, delivered his Message of Commitment, underscoring MSU–GenSan’s dedication to meaningful collaborations that promote peace and sustainable development. “This partnership reflects our continuing mission to engage with institutions that help translate academic work into real community impact,” he said.

Representing the Philippine Ulama Congress Organization, Inc., President and CEO Ustadh Luqman L. Bin Usman Imam, MAIS, SCL, highlighted the vital role of state colleges and universities in strengthening the halal industry, stating that “universities play a major role in building and sustaining the halal industry through research, expertise, and academic support.”

The MOA signing marks a shared commitment to strengthen academic cooperation and advance initiatives that support research innovation and halal industry development in Mindanao.
