The Mindanao State University – General Santos community gathered for its weekly flag raising ceremony on April 20, 2026, led by the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the University Library, where key academic and institutional achievements were recognized.
During the program, the University honored its student researchers for their outstanding performance at the Math Confluence 2026 held at Ateneo de Davao University, securing the top two spots in the Student Thesis Competition.
Recognized as Champion was Kient Rey Zuyco for his research titled “Outer-Connected Weakly Connected 2-Domination in Graphs,” under the guidance of Prof. Mae P. Militante. Also awarded 1st Runner-Up was Danzel A. Ocenar for his study “Bayesian Spatio-Temporal Modeling with Change-Point Analysis of Crimes in SOCCSKSARGEN,” advised by Prof. Jean B. Lanzuela.
This milestone marks a back-to-back championship for the University, following the achievement of Michael Tañalas in 2025. MSU-General Santos was also recognized for its active participation in the event.
In addition, the University received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of the Interior and Local Government for its role as a Partner Learning Resource Institution in the successful implementation of the 2025 Citizen Satisfaction Index System (CSIS). The recognition highlights MSU-GenSan’s contribution to strengthening governance through data-driven public service initiatives.
The ceremony brought together university officials, faculty, staff, and students, celebrating excellence in research and public service while reinforcing a shared commitment to community engagement.
