The Mindanao State University – General Santos successfully conducted its Investment Programming Workshop on March 17–18, 2026, at the MSU GenSan Conference Room, bringing together university officials, academic leaders, and stakeholders to strengthen institutional planning and priority setting.
In her opening remarks, Mishell D. Lawas, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, underscored the importance of strategic prioritization, stating, “We must identify what we truly need in the next two, five, and ten years to align our initiatives with the university’s core values.”
An overview of the Annual Investment Plan was presented by Dr. Randy P. Asturias, Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, who outlined the university’s proposed programs and initiatives for the coming years. The presentation emphasized the importance of selecting priority investments that are both strategic and implementation-ready.
Meanwhile, Chancellor Atty. Shidik T. Abantas presented the institution’s 8-Point Agenda, highlighting priority investments for the next decade and reinforcing the university’s commitment to long-term growth and development.
Key sessions also focused on integrating crosscutting principles in investment planning. Jovanie C. Espesor, Director of the Strategic Linkages and Partnerships of the University , discussed the incorporation of peace, internationalization (IZN), and gender (HGDG) into institutional planning. Complementing this, Atty. Hanna-Tunisia F. Usman, Director of the Planning Office, discussed sustainability and development as guiding principles in crafting impactful investment plans.
The workshop included breakout sessions where academic units and administrative offices collaboratively developed their respective investment proposals, followed by an open forum to refine strategies and address key concerns.
On the second day, Prof. Sheila J. Loable, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, delivered an inspirational message, encouraging participants to remain committed to excellence and accountability in implementing university plans.
The program concluded with the presentation of outputs, awarding of certificates to participating academic units and offices, and closing remarks, marking the successful culmination of the two-day workshop.
Through this initiative, MSU–GenSan reaffirmed its commitment to strategic planning, and collaborative governance, ensuring that its programs and priorities are aligned toward a competitive and future-ready institution.
