In observance of the Holy Month of Ramadan 2026, Mindanao State University – General Santos proudly launched the much-anticipated Barakah Bazaar on February 23.
The opening program commenced in front of the Y Building, gathering students, faculty, staff, and guests for a meaningful celebration. The program began with opening remarks from Mohammad Ali, JD, Sub-Committee Chairperson and HTRC Focal Person, followed by a short discussion on the Significance of Ramadan delivered by Prof. Jamilnur D. Sarip, Director of the Halal Research and Training Center (HRTC).
In his message to the University community, Chancellor Atty. Shidik T. Abantas emphasized the importance of unity and diversity within the institution:“This shows our diverse community. This also shows our respect towards each other because one of the mandates of the university is to integrate different people into one.”
A much-awaited Ramadan Countdown heightened the excitement, leading to the official launch of the Barakah Bazaar. As the countdown concluded, the bazaar grounds were illuminated with lights, followed by a fireworks display, marking not only the beginning of the Ramadan festivities but also a renewed commitment to cultural appreciation and solidarity.
The Barakah Bazaar will remain open for one month, offering the MSU-Gensan community the opportunity to experience a variety of Halal foods and cultural exhibits.
