Research Priorities

MSU-GenSan’s research priorities align with its vision to support its operational mandate for national integration and increased contributions to the national agenda, particularly in the areas of food security, poverty alleviation, and rapid economic growth for Mindanao.

The University delineates the scope of its research endeavors according to its key objectives. The allocation of research resources is determined by the University’s research priorities. Consequently, a set of criteria is specified for the determination of these priorities, subject to periodic reviews and adjustments based on changing conditions, to wit:

  • MSU Charter / Code of Governance;
  • Community needs and resources;
  • Basic and/or new promising problem areas aligned with the national research agenda;
  • Global issues and needs anchored on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs);
  • Availability of funds and adequacy of facilities and other resources; and
  • Availability of experts.

In accordance with its commitment to contribute to national and societal objectives through interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, collaborative, and/or independent studies, MSU-GenSan, facilitated by the Research Division, reviews and funds research proposals in specified areas outlined the University Research Agenda (2023-2027):
