MSU-General Santos presents development direction and priority programs at RSDC XII 4th Quarter Meeting

Mindanao State University–General Santos (MSU-Gensan) hosted the 4th Quarter Regular Meeting of the Regional Social Development Committee (RSDC) XII on November 5, 2025, bringing together regional leaders, partner agencies, and stakeholders committed to advancing inclusive and sustainable development in Region XII.

A key highlight of the activity was the presentation of the MSU-General Santos Campus Development Direction and Priority Programs and Projects delivered by Atty. Shidik T. Abantas, Chancellor of MSU-General Santos. Chancellor Abantas outlined the University’s forward-looking plans, emphasizing MSU-Gensan’s role as a center for innovation, academic excellence, and community empowerment in Southern Mindanao.

He presented the institution’s strategic direction, including the expansion of responsive academic programs, strengthened research and innovation initiatives, campus modernization efforts, and deeper community engagement. These initiatives, he noted, reinforce MSU’s mission to cultivate academic excellence and social responsibility among students, faculty, and partner communities.

“MSU-General Santos continues to move forward with a clear vision, to become a leading university in Mindanao that not only produces competent graduates but also drives progress and peace through education and social development,” Chancellor Abantas said.

The meeting was formally opened by DSWD XII Director Loreto Jr V. Cabaya, who commended MSU-Gensan for its continued partnership and leadership in regional development. “Let us exercise this opportunity to strengthen our collaboration, explore innovative solutions, and reaffirm our commitment to affording the dignity and well-being of every individual, region, and family,” he said.

As part of the program, the body proceeded to operational and technical concerns, with various presenters from regional offices delivering updates on ongoing initiatives, priority issues, and development programs. This was followed by the presentation of committee and subcommittee reports, outlining accomplishments, challenges, and recommended actions for the upcoming year.

To extend its gratitude, RSDC XII awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to MSU-General Santos for hosting the quarterly meeting and contributing to its successful conduct.

The session also included the election of new RSDC XII officers for the term July 2025 to June 2028, with Mr. Carlito Y. Uy, RDC XII Private Sector Representative for Social Sector, was elected as Chairperson and Dr. Aristides Concepcion Tan, MD, MPH, CESO III, Regional Director of the Department of Health XII, elected as Co-Chairperson.

The event concluded with a reaffirmed commitment between MSU-General Santos and RSDC XII to strengthen collaboration in advancing educational and social development programs that uplift communities across the SOCCSKSARGEN Region.
