Senator Risa Hontiveros visited Mindanao State University–General Santos today, June 15, 2026, to inspect facilities affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck General Santos City and nearby areas on June 8.
The visit included an inspection of the College of Medicine building at the MSU–College of Education Training Department (CETD) campus, which sustained damage during the earthquake and remains one of the the University’s priority facilities for rehabilitation.
During the visit, University officials briefed the Senator on the extent of the damage and ongoing recovery efforts. Senator Hontiveros expressed her support for the University’s rehabilitation initiatives and assured assistance in coordinating with relevant government agencies and offices.
“I’m happy that the DPWH will help. Update us on your developments and retrofitting efforts, and if additional support is needed, let us know so we can help and coordinate with other offices,” Senator Hontiveros said.
The visit underscores the continuing commitment of government leaders to support MSU–General Santos in restoring affected facilities and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of quality education.
