MSU-GenSan holds Junior High School Building Turnover Ceremony

The Mindanao State University – General Santos community gathered for its weekly flag raising ceremony on May 4, 2026, led by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension and Innovation. The activity brought together university officials, faculty, staff, and students in a shared moment of unity and institutional pride.

In his message, Chancellor Atty. Shidik T. Abantas emphasized the university’s collective role in preparing for the upcoming ISO Stage 2 visit. He highlighted the importance of coordination, accountability, and shared responsibility across all offices. “We should help each other and everyone must do their part so we can move forward as one university,” he stressed, underscoring the need for cooperation as the university continues to strengthen its systems and standards.

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor for Research, Extension and Innovation, Prof. Christine Dawn G. Obemio, presented updates on the university’s progress under her office. As of May 2026, the university recorded 13 Scopus-indexed publications, with the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics leading, followed by the College of Agriculture. She also noted that MSU-GenSan has been recognized as one of the most improved campuses in the MSU System in terms of research performance.

In terms of external funding, the university has secured eight DOST-approved concept proposals, reflecting growing research engagement across colleges. The number of National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) members has also increased marking significant growth from previous years.
The ceremony concluded with the singing of the Himno ng Pamantasan, reinforcing the spirit of unity and commitment among members of the MSU-GenSan community.
