The Office of Student Development Services serves as the university’s central support unit dedicated to the holistic development, welfare, and engagement of students through comprehensive programs, services, and activities that complement academic learning. The office is committed to nurturing well-rounded, disciplined, and socially responsible individuals by promoting student growth in leadership, values formation, mental well-being, and campus involvement.
More specifically, the office oversees student affairs programs such as guidance and counseling services, student organization development, discipline management, scholarships and student assistance coordination, and co-curricular activities that enhance student life. It facilitates leadership training, student engagement initiatives, and wellness programs that support personal development and academic success. The office also works closely with various student organizations and university units to ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive campus environment. Furthermore, it contributes to the university’s mission of forming competent and values-driven graduates by fostering student empowerment, active participation, and holistic development within the academic community.

The Office of Guidance and Counseling is an integral part of the total school program and is consistent with the philosophy of Mindanao State University – General Santos (MSU-Gensan). The Guidance and Counseling program is developed by design, focusing on needs, interests, and issues related to the various stages of student growth. The Office is primarily in charge with the continuous process of assisting the student’s development and providing a good basis for broader education in the direction beneficial to the student’s well-being and society. More specifically, the Office is responsible in helping students thrive and recognize their individual strengths and challenges in a safe learning environment.  The Office is committed to individual uniqueness and maximum development in three major areas: academic, career, and personal/social. Hence, the Office is dedicated in providing and conducting various activities and programs such as orientation program, career guidance, counseling, psychosocial intervention, appraisal and testing, and referral services to the students.

The Office of Student Housing and Dormitories serves as the university’s support unit responsible for managing, regulating, and enhancing student residential facilities to ensure safe, comfortable, and conducive living environments for students. The office is committed to providing accessible and well-maintained housing services that support students’ academic success, personal development, and overall well-being.
More specifically, the office oversees the administration of dormitories and student housing facilities, including room assignments, occupancy management, maintenance coordination, and enforcement of housing policies and guidelines. It ensures that residential spaces meet safety, health, and security standards while fostering discipline, respect, and community living among residents. The office also facilitates student support services within dormitories, including orientation programs, resident advisories, and welfare monitoring to promote a positive living experience. Furthermore, it contributes to the university’s mission of student development by providing a structured and supportive residential environment that complements academic learning and encourages responsible and independent living.

The Cultural Affairs Office (CAO) is the culture and arts arm of the university. It manages various performing art groups, namely: Kabpapagariya Ensemble, MSU Chorale and Arya Band. CAO also holds the advisership of the Pinta Okir Visual Arts Group. Subsequently, the University Museum of Cultural History and the Arts is also under the supervision of the office. CAO endeavors in training and developing students with skills in theater, visual arts, music, chorale singing and cultural dances. Furthermore, it aims to address concerns about cultural education, cultural preservation and the responsibility to foster cultural sensitivity inside the University and its surrounding communities.

The Office of Physical Education and Sports (OPES) through its Physical Education Department creates a well-rounded physical education program that would address the physical growth, social training and personal disciplines for all students as well as superior athletic achievements to those who are psychologically inclined and physically gifted. In line with this mandate, OPES offers programs that are anchored to the major function of the university namely: Instruction, Research and Extension Service adopting a holistic approach in the development of human to become healthy, happy, useful and productive citizen of the country. Furthermore, OPES, through its Sports Department is responsible for the development and implementation of all sports programs in the university be it competitive, recreational or instructional in nature.

The Medical Services Department (MSD) acts as an organizational unit that provides primary medical care for the faculty, staff and students of the University. MSD’s thrust objective is to establish a healthy environment and productive workforce at the Mindanao State University – General Santos City. MSD promotes the importance of developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through various activities such as physical fitness exercise, health education, and regular medical and dental examination. It also provides detection of illness and ensure appropriate medical advice to deliver immediate and appropriate initial management of emergency cases such as first aid treatments, to prevent the spread of common communicable diseases in the university, to provide and ensure proper referral system in cases where further evaluation and management are needed, to provide an environment that is conducive to persons with disability and with special needs, and to establish linkages with allied medical and other line agencies in the community or locality.
