The Research and Development Center (RDC) is responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and review, and coordination of research policies, programs, systems, and standards of the university. RDC takes the lead in building the capacities of academics and researchers of the university in terms of research and publication. It also provides guidance to faculty researchers in packaging research proposals that are submitted to various funding institutions. Furthermore, RDC serves as the secretariat of the Research and Development Council, which is composed of faculty members, who are experts in different fields of engineering, agriculture, fisheries, natural sciences, business administration and social sciences. It also grants funds to faculty researchers whose research projects are within the priority areas of the University, which include environment and natural resource management, industry, energy and emerging technology, science and technology, food security, poverty alleviation, education technology, health and wellness, terrorism and violent extremism, and peace and security.

The Extension Services Office (ESO) is responsible for rendering extension services alongside the instruction, research and production mandates of the university. It has the vital responsibility of supporting the development of its serviced communities. Through ESO, the research outputs are utilized by the people, and whatever capacity and capability-building are provided by the university. It seeks to coordinate with the different colleges to bring about multi-disciplinary and well-coordinated extension programs in order to maximize opportunities for partnership with other agencies/organizations, expand the areas of community extension service and improve the socio-economic conditions of partner-beneficiaries. Furthermore, ESO envisions to help develop the communities in South Cotabato, General Santos, Sarangani, and Sultan Kudarat as productive partners in Mindanao and national development, promoting peace and harmony among Christians, Muslims and IPs.

It supports faculty members, researchers, students, and partner communities in transforming research outputs and creative concepts into sustainable and impactful innovations. The division also assists in establishing linkages, promoting intellectual property awareness, and encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance innovation productivity and competitiveness. Furthermore, it contributes to the university’s commitment to academic excellence and sustainable development by advancing innovation-driven practices and solutions that create meaningful social and economic impact.

The Halal Research and Training Center serves as the university’s specialized center dedicated to the advancement of halal research, education, training, and community engagement in support of industry development and cultural understanding. The center promotes quality, ethical standards, and innovation in halal practices while contributing to economic growth, academic development, and inclusive societal progress.
More specifically, the center facilitates research initiatives, capability-building programs, and training activities related to halal standards, certification awareness, product development, and halal industry practices. It provides technical assistance, seminars, and collaborative engagements for students, faculty members, entrepreneurs, and partner communities to strengthen knowledge and competencies in halal-related fields. The center also supports interdisciplinary research, industry linkages, and extension programs that encourage sustainable and globally competitive halal practices. Furthermore, it contributes to the university’s mission of promoting academic excellence, cultural sensitivity, and community empowerment through responsive and research-driven halal education and development initiatives.
