UNIVERSITY ADVISORY | STATUS OF UNIVERSITY BUILDINGS FOLLOWING THE 7.8-MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE

Following the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck General Santos City and nearby regions on June 8, 2026, and the subsequent rapid structural assessments conducted by our University safety inspectors and further confirmed by the Office of the Building Official (OBO), the University hereby issues an updated status of its buildings on all campuses to ensure the safety of all personnel and stakeholders.

All concerned offices and units are advised to strictly adhere to these classifications. Unauthorized entry into restricted and off-limits areas is strictly prohibited.

Further, all Deans, Directors, and Unit Heads are directed to coordinate with the University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (UDRRMO) and the Physical Plant Division for continuous monitoring, detailed inspection, and necessary rehabilitation works.

The University assures the community that safety remains the highest priority, and further updates will be issued as assessments progress.
